Step 21: Study abroad

College students who have had the chance to travel often say that studying abroad was the best part of their college careers. The study abroad office at your college can help you decide which length of study abroad program to choose, what country to visit, and what classes to take while you're abroad.

Most colleges offer several different choices for international study abroad, including living with a host family, or living in a college dorm or apartment. Choose one of your college's own study abroad programs, or work with an outside company to pick a different location. You may even find that your college offers study abroad at a foreign university for the same price as you're paying at home!
